Sundial Plumbing’s heritage in Metro Atlanta dates back to 1945, when the Smith family began a tradition of craftsmanship, trust, and community service that continues today. What started as a small family business in Georgia has grown into one of the region’s most respected plumbing companies — known for professionalism, integrity, and award-winning customer care.
A Legacy of Trust Since 1945
Early Years (1930s–1940s)
Born in Bremen, GA, Roy and George Smith apprenticed in the plumbing trade in the 1930s. By 1940, they had become Master Plumbers and soon worked at the Charleston Naval Yard, installing plumbing in massive warships during World War II.
Post-War Growth (1945–1950s)
After the war, the brothers founded Smith Brothers Plumbing Company in Bremen. By the 1950s, they had succeeded in bringing modern indoor plumbing to homes and farms throughout Bremen and Buchanan, Georgia.
Moving to Marietta (1960s–1990s)
In 1963, George’s son Jack and his wife relocated to Marietta, GA. Jack balanced college studies with work at Lockheed Aircraft, then stepped into the family plumbing business. Following George’s passing in 1972, Jack partnered with Gerald Laminack to form Sundance Plumbing. Later, he reopened the company as Sundial Plumbing.
A New Generation (2000s–Today)
Jack’s daughter, Mitzi, became a licensed Master Plumber and took over leadership when Jack retired in 2009. Today, Sundial Plumbing continues under the leadership of Bruce Phillips, President of Sundial Plumbing. With over 70 years of service and three generations of dedication, Sundial remains committed to providing Metro Atlanta with high-quality plumbing solutions and trusted expertise.
